  • Published in News

Mercury Rev have announced news of one of their most exciting ventures yet. This July the alt-rock legends will embark on a 3-date UK tour accompanied by the Royal Northern Sinfonia in which their celebrated catalogue will be dramatically enhanced within a sumptuous orchestral setting.

Royal Northern Sinfonia has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking and versatile orchestras and has in recent years collaborated with artists as diverse as Pet Shop Boys, Joanna Newsom, John Grant and Spiritualized. The tour will visit Gateshead, Bristol and London, where it will form part of Bella Union’s 20th Anniversary celebrations (more info of which will follow soon).

Mercury Rev have had orchestral backing before, playing with the Tilburg Conservatorium Orchestra at Netherlands’ Incubate Festival in 2015. The show has gone down as one of the best from a band with a formidable live reputation.

Dates below:

Wednesday 12th July – GATESHEAD – Sage Gateshead

Thursday 13th July – BRISTOL – Colston Hall
